Accelerating gender parity in our communities – International Women’s Day 2016
Happy International Women’s Day!
“What makes a woman thrive and how do you help her reach her goals and aspirations?” This is the question we asked a few members of the Fresh Life Family as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2016.
Edith Karimi – Communications Team
“Telling a woman’s story informs and influences change globally. Every time I tell the stories of our female Fresh Life Operators, I know that I provide them an opportunity to raise their voices, advocate for change, and inspire other women all over the world.”
Winfred Maingi – Fresh Life Operator and Head Teacher at Reuben Baptist School
“Women’s empowerment begins at a young age, and that is why I equip young girls here at Reuben Baptist School to be cognizant of their environment, build their confidence by speaking out, and work hard at school so that they can achieve their goals.”
Millicent Ngugi – Fresh Life Logistics Team
“Access to financing is important for every woman! It helps us to provide better for our families. Being an experienced businesswoman, I mentor young women into entrepreneurship by offering ideas and tips of possible business ventures to try out.”
Onesmas Kyalo – Fresh Life Operator
“At my four Fresh Life Toilets and restaurants, I always offer equal opportunities to both men and women to work with me. This is because I believe that both men and women are equally equipped to perform well at work.”
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to urgent action for accelerating gender parity.
