We are tremendously elated and humbled to have won the 2014 Suez Environnement Initiatives – Institut de France Prize. With our business ethos based on creating jobs and opportunity while simultaneously addressing serious social needs, it was fitting to win in the ‘Social Enterprise’ category. It is a major accolade for us and a great boost for our entire team.

Created in 2011 in conjunction with the French Institute, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions providing sponsorship and managing donations and legacies, the Fonds Suez Environnement Initiatives supports projects for the development of access to essential services like drinking water, sanitation and waste management, through partnerships with international organisations in all countries.

Sanergy won the ‘Social Enterprise Award’ category that is awarded to a social entrepreneur for an initiative in the field of water access, water treatment or waste management. Sanergy was chosen from among a pool of over 30 remarkable candidates in the water and sanitation sector. Jean- Louis Chaussade, Chief Executive Officer and Founding Chairman of the Fonds Suez Environment Initiatives termed Sanergy as a “Brave and daring enterprise that continues to rise to the challenges faced by a lack of sanitation among communities in the developing world”.

We would like to thank the Fond Suez Environnement Initiatives and the ‘Institut de France’ for their role in acknowledging all the hard work that the Sanergy team has put in to ensure that we make hygienic sanitation accessible and affordable throughout Africa’s informal settlements.
