Sanergy Welcomes the National Environment Management Authority on World Environment Day!

NEMA Director Titus Simiyu waters a tree during the celebrations

World Environment Day, which happens every June 5th, brings together millions of citizens to have a positive impact on our planet. Here at Sanergy, we made our voice heard through a fun-filled awareness day held at Reuben Community Grounds. With more than 700 people in attendance, we celebrated the Fresh Life Toilet and the environmental benefit it has made in the lives of residents in Mukuru.

The day brought together officials from National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), community health workers, teachers and students from various schools as well as stakeholders in the WASH sector such as KWAHO and GOAL. Mukuru Kwa Reuben Chief Elspeth Njeri, flanked by her assistant chief, also joined in the festivities at the colourful event.

NEMA’s Nairobi County Environmental Director, Titus Simiyu and Nairobi County Environmental Officer Christopher Njane, led residents on a tree planting exercise in Hope Worldwide Center and urged residents to shun open defecation and embrace hygienic practices, specifically citing Fresh Life Toilets as a great product and service.  Stressing the need for collaboration the NEMA Director remarked, “We need to be part of environmental solutions. Fresh Life Toilets are part of the environmental solution. NEMA hopes Sanergy will take Fresh Life Toilets to the whole country. We are looking forward to helping Sanergy take Fresh Life Toilets to all slums.”
